Written by someone
who's actually done it

Manufacturer manuals tell you what should happen. This guide tells you what to do so it actually happens — in the field, on a real job, under real conditions.

01
Real field experience

Based on 100,000+ tons of VRF installed in real projects. Every recommendation comes from actual installations, actual mistakes, actual fixes.

02
No manufacturer bias

This guide covers LG and Samsung — the two most common VRF brands in the US market. It tells you what manufacturers don't.

03
Built for the field

Step-by-step. Checklist format. Clear and direct. Written for the technician on the job site, not the engineer in the office.

Most VRF problems
trace back to installation

In 80% of cases, the fix is not a part — it's a correction. These are the three mistakes we see on almost every first install.

1
Wrong refrigerant pipe connection in Heat Pump mode

HP systems have 3 pipes — only 2 are used. Two pipes of similar diameter serve completely different functions. The system may start normally and fail months later.

2
Brazing without nitrogen purge

Without N2 flow, copper oxide scale forms inside the pipe at every joint. It's invisible from outside. It damages the compressor, EEV, and heat exchangers over time. Nothing fails on Day 1 — it fails later.

3
Y-branches installed in the wrong orientation

ODU-side Y-branches face in the opposite direction from IDU-side branches. This is not intuitive and causes unequal refrigerant distribution. Accounts for 30%+ of VRF callbacks.
